Job Description: Director
1. Have either a 4-year degree or its equivalent; and
- Have two years of full-time verifiable work experience in a child care center or early childhood work experience; or an undergraduate, graduate, or associate degree, with at least 12 hours of child development, child psychology, early childhood education or directly related field; or a Child Development Associate Credential; or completion of a of a community or technical college curriculum program in the area of child care or early childhood; or one year of full-time verifiable child care or early childhood experience and a North Carolina Early Childhood Credential; and
- Have verification of having successfully completed, or be currently enrolled in, 2 semester credit hours, or 32 clock hours, of training in the area of early childhood program administration; or, have one year experience performing administrative responsibilities; and
2. Shall be knowledgeable of and able to recognize common symptoms of illness.
3. Completed First Aid and CPR (for adults, infants, and toddlers). OSHA Training.
4. Completed at least four clock hours of training in safety approved by the Division.
5. Must submit the following:
- a certified criminal history check from the Clerk of Superior Court’s office in the
county where the individual resides;
- a signed Authority for Release of Information using the form provided by the
Division;
- a fingerprint card used by the using SBI form FD-258; and
- a signed statement declaring under penalty of perjury if he/she has been convicted
of a crime other than a minor traffic violation.
6. Must submit a statement signed by a licensed physician or an authorized health
professional under his/her supervision, that indicates the person is emotionally and physically fit to care for children within sixty days of initial date of employment. Must have negative TB test results prior to beginning work.
General Responsibilities:
1. To provide quality child care services for children of faculty/staff and students:
- flexible/consistent scheduling
- balanced program, age appropriate for all age levels (8 weeks through five years
old)
- communicate effectively with parents
- supervision of all teachers/staff
- Conduct staff meetings/parent meetings
- Assist teachers in evaluating children’s progress and in holding conferences with
parents.
- Deal with crises and mundane.
- Answer mail and telephone calls.
- Keep accurate record of Waiting List.
- Do any weekly, monthly, or annual job as need arises (for example, interview
potential staff member or enroll new child as openings for staff and children
occur.)
2. To provide quality child care services for approximately ________referred to from
community service agencies directly relating to children with special needs.
- supervise a case manager
- supervise approximately work-study/internship students especially assigned to children with/without special needs.
- Evaluate policies and procedures, make suggestions to Special Need Board.
3. To conduct monthly tasks that include:
- Plan menus
- Order supplies
- Check building and grounds and equipment; provide for required maintenance.
- Review teachers’ classroom plans
- Receive tuition and deliver to Board Treasurer.
- Conduct fire drill and check extinguishers.
- Prepare payroll for teacher’s and student staff (last working day of the month), in conjunction with the treasurer and/or bookkeeper.
- Prepare and maintain Parent Information Board
1. Track revenue and expenses in QuickBooks or equivalent (willing to learn, if not experienced).
2. Prepare yearly budget for all operational and personnel expenses.
3. Inventory of supplies and equipment
- order and purchase needed equipment and supplies and food
- maintain building and equipment replacement
4. Secure revenue generated and assist in securing collection of fees
- maintain full enrollment and handle all record keeping accurately
- Collect fees from parents monthly and document that collection.
- Participate in fund raising.
- Obtain and disseminate information on legislation and grants available, participate in grant writing as requested by the board.
- Pay bills (Procurement Requests/Petty Cash) in conjunction with the treasurer and/or bookkeeper.
