New Windows at SGDDS

The Marion Stedman Covington Foundation provided a $7,500 matching grant to replace the windows in the daycare.  Matching funds were provided by the Lovett Foundation of Winston-Salem ($3,750), Skyline Telephone Membership Corporation ($1,250), Church of the Holy Cross – Valle Fair ($1,000), Walmart ($500), Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation ($500), Mountaineer Ruritan ($500), and Mast General Store ($250).  We discovered when we went out for bid, that regulatory agencies require that emergency exit doors replace some of the new windows which require an exit ramp to service the emergency exit doors..  The Covington Foundation grant and matching funds did not cover the doors or the exit ramp or railing.  The BREMCO Foundation awarded $5,000 toward the exit ramp and Watauga County granted an $8,000 dispensation to Cove Creek Preservation & Devel0pment on their loan repayment for 2007 to be applied toward the exit ramp and railing.  The ramp and windows are in, but the work is not yet completed: the railing and exit gate and finishing touches to the windows are yet to be done.

First, remove the old windows then install the new windows in the Toddler Room on Day 1.
On Days 2 & 3, remove the old windows and install the new windows and doors in the two preschool rooms.
